PFL 9: LHW and LW tournament results and live discussion

The second week of the first-ever Professional Fighters League playoffs are here. There are six weight classes where the winners of those eight-man tournaments will pocket $1 million, and the action continues tonight (Saturday, October 13th) from Long Beach, California.

PFL 9 is focused on the lightweights and light heavyweights. Atop the lightweight bracket is #1 seed Natan Schulte, who takes on #8 seed Johnny Case, brought in as an alternate after Brian Foster was removed due to injury. Light heavyweight’s top seed is Vinny Magalhaes, and he’ll be taking on Rakim Cleveland.

To make things more interesting, the quarterfinals and semifinals are on the same night, with the quarterfinals scheduled for two-rounds and the semifinals are three-rounds. In the event of a draw in the quarterfinals, the tiebreaker is whichever fighter won the first-round. Full tiebreaker rules can be seen here.

You can watch PFL 9 at 6:45 PM ET on Facebook Watch, where the bulk of the action is taking place, followed by the semifinal bouts on the NBC Sports Network main card at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT. For an event preview, check out Victor Rodriguez’s write-up.
