McGregor opens as favorite over Cerrone for possible fight

Are Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone going to face off in the Octagon? Cerrone certainly wants it, as he’s looking to return to lightweight and make one last run at the belt. There’s no word whether McGregor would consider such a bout, but it’s certainly intriguing on paper. And since oddsmakers never pass up the chance to throw out a futures line on a bout that may or may not happen – unsurprisingly, we have some betting odds for this possible bout.

Bovada has dropped a line for the fight, which sees McGregor as perhaps less of a favorite than some might have surmised:

Cerrone (34-11, 1 NC, 21-8 UFC) set a record for most UFC wins when he submitted Mike Perry at UFC Denver last weekend. He went 6-4 in a ten-fight welterweight run, after a long career at lightweight that saw him challenge for the title in 2016. McGregor (21-4, 9-2 UFC) is coming off a submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, the biggest UFC PPV of all time.

Would McGregor take this fight, as opposed to a third bout with Nate Diaz or a fight with a top contender at lightweight? We’ll have to wait to find out, but I’d like to see it.
