Jon Jones Released From Jail With New Probation Stipulations

Jon Jones is a free man again after a hearing in New Mexico earlier today resulted in him having new stipulations added to his probation.

Jones was taken to jail on Tuesday morning for violating the terms of his existing probation after it emerged that he’d received five traffic citations, including ‘drag racing’, just days earlier.

That led to fears that Jones rematch with Daniel Cormier at UFC 197 on April 23rd could be at risk, but the result of today’s hearing means that the title fight is still on, though the former champion is now operating under a tighter leash than before in the eyes of the law.

The new conditions of Jones probation include attending anger management and driver improvement classes, doing 60 hours of community service within the next three months, and having to get the permission of his parole officer any time that he wants to drive.

Jones was also warned by the judge that if there’s any further violation of his probation agreement, “it won’t go well” for him.

Hopefully he’ll heed that warning, but The 28 year-old still has a further 12 months of his 18 month probationary period to go, so it remains to be seen if he really will be able to stay out of trouble until then.
